FEMAIL’s Style Editor shared advice for embracing the boyfriend shirts trend Dinah Van Tulleken said leave untucked with tailored trousers for a relaxed lookShe suggests keeping the top button undone and rolling up the sleevesBy Dinah Van Tulleken For The Daily Mail Published: 17:47 EST, 12 February 2020 | Updated: 03:42 EST, 13 February 2020 IT SHOULD BE SO EASY A simple shirt should be the easiest thing to wear (a prerequisite for me when it comes to buying anything). After all, men wear them every day for every occasion. But for a long time it was hard to find a good one for women. Somehow, designers tooksomething that should have been so easy and made it complicated. Some had cotton so sheer it was practically see-through. Others pulled in at the waist and gaped on the bust — I’m the first to admit that I’m not blessed in thatdepartment but they didn’t even fit me well. And often they just looked too close to uniforms.  Dinah Van Tulleken shared advice for embracing the current trend for boyfriend shirts, pictured: shirt, £145, essentielantwerp.com; jumper, £25, marksand spencer.com; trousers, £125, jigsaw-online. com; shoes, £180, theoutnet.comPERFECT CUT FOR WOMEN Finally, things are changing. That’s because some savvydesigners have turned to menswear for inspiration — thank you Jil Sander, The Row and Joseph. It turns out the Oxford shirt cut for a man is perfectly cut for a woman too. no fussy extras neeeded. CASUAL BUT SMART This is why men live in them. you need spend no time thinking about this outfit. pull it on over a rollneck if the weather’s anything like it is today and leave it loose and untucked. you can wear it with jeans, trousers, skirts. It’s notsupposed to be neat, but whatever you do, it still always looks smart. BORROW HIS SHIRT Check out new label With nothing Underneath — a firm favourite with fashion editors. They sell nothing but sustainably sourced cotton poplin shirts, inspired by men’s tailoring but tweaked to fit women beautifully. Their classic blue shirt(below, second left) is my favourite. Or you can, of course, simply borrow your partner’s. What could be better for Valentine’s Day?NOW SHOP THE TREND…
